March 7 – 28, the City Museum “Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine”, exhibition “Sergei Shyshko”.

We are honored to offer the next exhibition of the project “Classical Ukraine” in the framework of which in November 2003 and July 2004 exhibitions “Ukrainian and Russian art from private collections of the 19th – the first half of the 20th century” and “Ukrainian painting 1945 – 1989” were held.
We decided to address to oeuvre of Sergei Fiodorovych Shyshko, outstanding Ukrainian artist of the latter half of the 20th century. At the opening of the exhibition album “Sergei Shyshko” was presented that comprises 200 paintings and 50 graphic works of the artist from private collections made available by Administration of exhibitions by National Artists Union of Ukraine.
Album “Sergei Shyshko” appeared in print owing to connoisseurs of Sergei Shyshko’s art, people in whose collections his artworks found their honorable place.
In June 2006 Sergei Shyshko could have celebrated his 95-years anniversary. Personality of Sergei Shyshko encompasses gift, art, selfless commitment to his homeland and native City of Kyiv, people who live here and deserve sincere gratitude and respect.
Collectors and publishers of the album who are not indifferent to the artist’ oeuvre decided to use funds collected from sale of publication for erection of a monument to Sergei Shyshko’s memory on the his grave at Baikovoe cemetery.
Opening of the exhibition took place on March 7 at 5 p.m. in the museum “Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine”, 12 Desiatynna Str.
